Theft of Packages Left on Porches

One of our members was walking through North Main Park yesterday (Thursday) around 5:30 pm.  As he was climbing the stairs up to Main St across from the Soda Shop, he found empty shipping boxes halfway down the stairs stuffed into the brush.  They were all addressed to residents in Edge Court.  He tracked one of the packages online and found it was delivered at 7:20 on Wednesday evening.  We believe they may have been stolen from the porches of the residents, opened, the contents removed and the boxes stashed in the brush.  Unfortunately, none of the three recipients of the packages are members, but those of you who are and live in Edge Ct. may know someone who does not receive something they ordered. They can always contact us to see if they were a victim.

This can be a common problem this time of year.  It gets dark early, many of us order online and packages are left on front porches or by the front door.  If you can, give special instructions when you order as to where to leave packages (maybe a side porch, etc.) or do what I used to do, have them delivered to your office where there is someone to take them.  A package sitting on a porch near the street in the dark is very tempting. Keep your eyes open for your neighbors if you are home and see something suspicious and call the police.
