Have you given up on what to get that one person on your list who has everything and is hard to shop for? Have you tried our local NMCA business members? Check out who is a member on our local page. There are also numerous local charities. If you still are at a loss, do what I do and go to Charity Navigator. There you will find ratings on all kinds of charities, including animals, humanity, culture, education and more. They rate charities based on transparency and how much is spent on administrative, advertising and what actually goes to help the recipient. It’s a great way to choose a charity that does good work and I, personally, love to get the gift of a donation made in my name rather than something I don’t need. By the way, the Greenville Humane Society is now one of the “4-star” charities, just recently added.
Speaking of charity at home, the Northgate Soda Shop is accepting non-perishable items for those who are less fortunate in our community. They have boxes set up, but they need donations by this Friday, December 20. If you would like to give $$$, there will be a jar on the bar in the Other Side. This is the giving time of year, so please help others who are less fortunate. They will deliver the items on Monday, December 23.
