Thursday Planning Commission – Another Infill Project

This is another example of ‘infill’, something we’ve been hearing a lot about lately. The property is zoned R6, just off Chick Springs Road. While the developer likely meets all current ordinance restrictions, it is a ‘wooded’ lot; thus, a concern regarding whether tree canopy will be preserved. NMCA had requested a moratorium on development until a new ordinance could be approved, knowing that was not likely to happen. In light of the task force the city plans to form and the ensuing meetings and time delay, during the work session last Monday Council agreed to inform developers of likely future changes to the ordinance in an effort to encourage ‘good’ development. If you are interested in attending the meeting, it is part of the Planning Commission Regular Meeting and Public Hearing this Thursday, November 14, at 4:00 PM in 10th Floor Council Chambers, City Hall.
