Reminder: Planning Commission Meeting Thursday, 4 PM – “Cottages at Townes”

There was a good turnout Tuesday night for the neighborhood meeting about the proposed subdivision between W. Hillcrest and W. Mountainview (Cottages at Townes).  Although many topics came up such as set-backs, retention ponds, trees, grading, drainage, home size and footprint, etc., much of the discussion centered around the alley that borders those living on W. Hillcrest and the property to be developed. There was some question about abandonment of the alley by the city and the impact to bordering property owners.
Since NMCA has received questions in the past on city owned alleys and if/how to obtain ownership via city abandonment, it would behoove anyone with an interest in this to attend the Planning Commission tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon. Obviously, those who live adjacent to the proposed development need to be there to stay abreast of the issues and speak if they so desire.  This is an important meeting for anyone who has an interest in how this property will be developed.  The Public Hearing will be held tomorrow, Thursday, January 10, at 4:00 PM in the 1st Floor Meeting Room of City Hall for the purpose of considering the following Applications:
A. SD 13-03. Application of Site Design, Inc (Townes Street Land Trust, Owner) for a Land Development Permit (Major Subdivision – Preliminary Plat) pursuant to Section 19-2.3.13, Land Development, of the Greenville City Code for the reconfiguration of an undeveloped alley and 11 properties including 210 and 212 Townes Street Extension. The properties are zoned ‘R-6’, Single Family Residential, District, consist of approximately 2.17 acres of land, and are proposed to be subdivided into a total of 10 buildable lots (TMS# 0178000503100 et al).
You are invited to review documents relating to these Applications before the Public Hearing. Documents are online at www.greenvillesc.gov/PlanningZoning/PlanningApplications/default.aspxor on file in the Planning and Development Office on the 5th floor of City Hall, 206 South Main Street, Greenville, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
