This past Saturday, August 21, a couple of city employees along with about 10 of your friends and neighbors braved the heat, humidity and bugs to begin “taking back” the creek bank at the North Main Rotary Park. Overgrown with kudzu, volunteer tree saplings and weeds, it was almost impossible to see where the desirable plants were. This will be an ongoing effort until we get it back in shape so that regular maintenance will be able to keep it looking nice. If you go to the park, you will see some plants with flagging tape, paint or flags. These are marked so that they will not be disturbed, so please do not remove them.
We will be back at the park this Saturday, August 28, from about 9am to noon. If you can spare even an hour to come help, we would appreciate it. Wear sturdy shoes, long plants and gloves. Bring any clippers or other gardening tools you want. The weather should be much nicer this weekend. Hope to see some new faces!
