Due to the frigid affects of Winter Storm Ion, The Blood Connection (TBC) is receiving calls for blood supply assistance and expects the need for support to continue for some time to come. Over the last few days we have been able to fill these much-neede…d requests, and as Northeast airports open we expect the demand to increase. So far we have shipped numerous blood products to blood centers including New Jersey Blood Center, Heartland Blood Center in Indiana, Michigan Blood Center, New York Blood Center, and Community Council of New Jersey. Our ability to quickly respond is a testament to the generous, selfless donors in our communities.
TBC always stands ready to help neighboring states with blood and platelets, but we first ensure that local area hospitals have adequate supplies for patients. In order to assist neighboring states as well as maintain adequate levels locally, TBC is requesting whole blood and platelet donations. All blood types are needed, especially O negative, O positive, and B negative.
