Crime Watch Incident Follow-up

As a follow-up to a message from one of our residents last week regarding someone ringing their doorbell late at night, we’ve gotten several other reports of similar incidences including one where property damage was involved when the resident did not answer the door. The individual is typically a male who rings the doorbell and/or knocks, usually late at night. Based on reports we have received, incidents seem to be concentrated in the general area west of North Main bordered by Gallivan, Bennett and Hillcrest. We have requested increased police patrols in that area which hopefully will be a deterrent.

We want to reiterate the warning: DO NOT answer or open your door any time of the day or night to strangers. If you can’t see your front door area from the house, install a peep hole or some other monitoring device. If you experience a similar incident, CALL THE POLICE non-emergency number (271-5333) and report the incident. Also let the NMCA know so we can get the information to your neighbors.

As we mentioned in an earlier post, if you are interested in participating in a Neighborhood Watch program in our area, please contact Mike Cubelo at mikecubelo@yahoo.com If you would like a security survey done of your home (checking windows, locks, landscaping, lighting, etc), please contact Courtney Palmer at Cpalmer@greenvillesc.gov or call 864-467-4372.
