From Amy Doyle re: Wade Hampton development:
The special exception for the proposed Wade Hampton Boulevard Self Storage Facility is still scheduled for the Board of Zoning Appeals meeting.
As you know at the August 9 meeting, the Board of Zoning Appeals recommended the applicant have a neighborhood meeting. The developer has not had that meeting. It is still on the Board of Zoning Appeals agenda for this evening Oct 11. http://www.greenvillesc.gov/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_10112018-1588?html=true
I cannot predict the board’s decision, but one option the board chair can exercise would be to ask if the developer would like to table the item again. (Tabling an item can occur up until the time of the start of the meeting.)
If the item is heard and voted on, the board will take into consideration the neighborhood meeting did not occur.
Given the resources and public money we have spent on Wade Hampton Blvd and the great momentum in The Blvd strategic plan, the city is carefully considering development on this important gateway info downtown.
