The City is pleased to announce that Arnett Muldrow & Associates has been selected to provide planning services for the Wade Hampton Boulevard Strategic Plan. In addition to Greenville-based Arnett Muldrow & Associates, the consulting team will include Tom McGilloway with Mahan Rykiel Associates (Baltimore, Maryland), Randy Wilson with Community Design Solutions (Columbia, SC), and Eric Dillon with Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering (Greenville, SC). The planning process will begin in early March and is expected to be completed in July.
The City recognizes that the neighborhoods adjacent to Wade Hampton Boulevard have a vested interest in future redevelopment of the corridor. Therefore, the plan will incorporate a robust public engagement process with ample opportunities for public input and involvement. Such opportunities will include multiple meetings with property owners, business owners, residents and other local stakeholders, as well as a multiday community charrette. In addition to the final strategic plan, the consultant will provide several key deliverables throughout the process, including a market assessment, renderings and conceptual plans of key projects, and overall illustrative plan, policy recommendations, and an action-based implementation strategy.
You may recall the Stone Avenue Master plan engaged hundreds of citizens who advocated for increased retail and streetscape improvements along Stone Avenue. In addition, the Stone Avenue Master plan looked at land use and zoning to address intensity in neighborhood commercial corridors. The Stone Avenue Master plan was a guide as the city invested in streetscape improvements on North Main and Stone Avenue and road improvements on the Church/Wade Hampton and Stone intersections.
We encourage residents to become involved as this process evolves! We’ll try and keep you posted of meetings and other opportunities for input.
