Tributes for slain Officer Allen Jacobs

As you know, Greenville Police Officer Allen Jacobs died last Friday in the line of duty.  A decorated Iraq war veteran, he leaves behind a pregnant wife and 2 young sons.  Officer Jacobs had strong ties to the community and he was out that day, doing his job to help keep our community safe.  His police car has been parked near where Stone Ave. and Laurens Rd. converge, and is covered with flowers and tributes.

The North Main Community Association has made a donation to the Greenville Police Department c/o Officer Allen Jacobs on behalf of our members.  If you would like to personally help the family, there are a number of ways to do so. You can donate online at https://www.gofundme.com/greenvillepdhib .   You can go to a TD Bank branch and offer a deposit into the Office Allen Jacobs account for his children’s education fund.   Or, you can Donate to the Greenville Police Department, c/o Officer Allen Jacobs, 4 McGee Street, Greenville, SC 29601.

Local businesses are also stepping up.  Henry’s Smokehouse and Community Tap announced they will donate all of the proceeds from their Oyster Roast to the family of Officer Jacobs. That event is April 1 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Larkins Sawmill. Tickets are $20 in advance, $30 at the door (plus tax).
