Following a request by one of our members, the North Main Community Association has been in contact with the city regarding the possibility of extending the Trolley route down to Gallivan Street at the Soda Shop. Because the trolleys are maintained with federal dollars, the city is required to follow various federal rules and regulations for changes in service. The proposed route is shown below. It would be a North Main > Gallivan > Bennett > Stone > North Main loop. Doing this will allow the trolley to pick up riders at the bottom of the N Main Hill (by the Soda Shop), as well as anyone who’s going to/from the Universal Joint on Stone Ave. They will get one of their drivers to do a “test run” of the route to make sure that the trolley can make all of the turns & get up the hill. If the community feedback is positive and the trolley has no problems with the route, they will go ahead and run it for a few months and monitor it closely.
So…here’s what we need from you, the community…FEEDBACK! We need positive feedback for this project to go any further. (Assuming the trolley can make it up the hill!)
Please respond to northmaincomm@gmail.com with any comments you have and we will summarize them for the city. The more comments the better! Thanks for your time.
