It appears the thieves in our area are getting more brazen. A very large planter of ferns was taken from a resident’s front porch in broad daylight between 8am and 11am this morning. The home is on W. Hillcrest and according to the resident the planter weighed between 100 and 150 lbs; thus, would likely take 2 people to lift it. The police were called, but by that time, the planter was probably on its way to a flea market, or was already sold.
This incident, and the one last week where 5 3-gallon peony plants were taken from a member’s side porch are the types of thefts we don’t usually think about. Obviously, if someone wants money bad enough, they’ll take anything not tied down. Just be aware.
