The City Parks Dept. is continuing their commitment to our park by assigning a horticulturist and assistant to maintain the creek bed that we planted several years ago. As you know, they have worked with our volunteers on several Saturday mornings in the past 6 weeks and together we have managed to take back control of the weeds along that area. Now that we have the area turned around, they have offered to provide pine straw to mulch the creek bottom. On Saturday, October 16, at 9am, we will be working with the two park employees, Cathy and Brad, to spread 100 bales of pine straw. That is a lot of straw and we can use all the help we can get, so please come to the North Main Rotary Park across from the soda shop on Main St. and do what you can to assist us in the beautification of OUR community park. If you drive, you can park at the Bobby Pearse Center on Townes St. or next to the ball field on Ashley Ave. Sorry that we cannot offer valet parking at this time. 🙂 So come on down and join in the fun of working for a few hours with your friends and neighbors.
Thanking you in advance,
