As most of you have seen, Duke Power (via Asplundh) has been doing a lot of tree trimming in the North Main area (many would call it tree butchering). In many cases old oak trees are basically cut in half vertically to get the branches away from power lines, with the result being one half of a tree with all the foliage facing the house. If we have a heavy wind or heavy snow or ice, we know what will happen…the tree will likely fall toward the house. And guess who will likely be responsible for the damage? Duke? I doubt it.
One of our residents has set up a meeting with a Duke representative for this Tuesday at 9am to walk through the neighborhood and assess the damage. Anyone is welcome to join them. Meet at 724 Bennett Street and bring your questions, etc.
