Greenville Transit Authority Seeking Public Input on Proposed Route Changes

The Greenville Transit Authority (GTA) shared the results of the recent Comprehensive Operational Analysis (COA) study of the Greenlink transit system at an open house on August 24, and while a number of recommendations from the study were discussed at the open house, implementation of any changes will require further public meetings. As a result, Greenlink will host a series of 16 drop-in style meetings during the months of October and November to give Greenville County residents ample opportunity to learn about the proposed changes and provide input.

One of the main recommendations included in the COA final report was to make changes to the Greenlink routes. Generally, the proposed route changes will:

·         Increase bi-directional route miles (when a bus services both sides of the road rather than traveling loop routes) by 62.9%

·         Increase opportunities to transfer between routes outside of the downtown Transit Center by 50%

·         Offer more efficient, reliable and dependent service to 98% of Greenlink’s existing customers

Maps of the proposed changes are available online at http://ridegreenlink.com/1223/Bus-Route-Changes.

Feedback received at the community meetings will be incorporated into the proposed routes and the Greenville Transit Authority Board of Directors will vote to adopt the new routes this winter. The changes are expected to go into effect in summer 2018.

Below is the complete schedule of public meetings. Individuals who are unable to attend one of the meetings can provide feedback by email at nmcaden@greenvillesc.gov or by phone at 864-298-2756 until November 22.
