Keep America Beautiful is celebrating the 23rd Great American Cleanup between March and June this year, and as part of that celebration, the City will provide bulk waste collection containers in neighborhood locations beginning Monday, April 12. This month-long spring cleanup event is being made possible by a grant from Palmetto Pride, SC’s anti-litter and beautification organization.
The containers are intended for city residents’ use only and will be monitored. Contractor use is prohibited. Residents are asked to maintain social distance at all times and allow the person in front of them to finish before approaching a container. All items must fit inside the container.
Accepted items include furniture, paint cans (filled with sand or cat litter to absorb liquid), dirt, rock, rubble, brick, block, concrete, wooden planks, boards, treated wood and yard waste greater than six feet long or six inches in diameter. The following items will not be accepted: household garbage, recyclables, hazardous building material, construction material and chemicals.
As a reminder, the City’s regular curbside pickup of bulk waste is still available, but as always, is limited to two items and residents must call at least one day ahead to schedule a bulk waste pickup. The City’s regular curbside pickup of yard waste is also still available but is limited to items less than six feet long or six inches in diameter.
For residents who have regular Monday pickup, containers will be in the following locations from Tuesday, April 13 to Sunday, April 18:
- Mulberry Street and Pete Hollis Boulevard
- West Greenville Community Center (8 Rochester Street)
- Juanita Butler Community Center (2 Burns Street)
- Pearl Avenue and Jones Avenue (near Sirrine Stadium)
- Hawthorne Lane (across from #8)
For residents who have regular Tuesday pickup, containers will be in the following locations from Tuesday, April 20 to Sunday, April 25:
- 924 North Main Street (in the parking area behind Northgate Soda Shop)
- 1164 Rutherford Road (in the parking area beside Stone Plaza Pharmacy)
- Holmes Park (315 Twin Lake Road)
- David Hellams Community Center (111 Spartanburg Street)
For residents who have regular Wednesday pickup, containers will be in the following locations from Tuesday, April 27 to Sunday, May 2:
- Nichol Street (at the community garden)
- Nicholtown Community Center (112 Rebecca Street)
- Lowndes Hill Road and Briarcliff Drive
- Baywood Avenue (across from #6)
- Gower Park (9 Evelyn Avenue)
- Scarlett Street (across from #107)
For residents who have regular Thursday pickup, containers will be in the following locations from Tuesday, May 4 to Sunday, May 9:
- Algonquin Trail (across from #14)
- Isbell Lane (in the parking lot beside #43)
- Country Club Drive (across from #25)
- Potomac Avenue (across from #438)
