Kill Trees But Appeal Accountability

Although he admits that it was a “gross error,” his contractor did it.  So, why should he be held accountable by the city?

That is developer David Douglas’ excuse for the Brookside tree killing and he is appealing the city’s ruling to take away his work permit until he submits a revised development plan. Of course, the original plan included the tall trees that were cut down.

Isn’t it more realistic to say that Douglas’ mismanagement of his own development is the “gross error?”

It appears that Douglas is trying a shortcut by hoping that the zoning appeals board is more forgiving than the city’s planning officials.

Let’s hope that the appeals board doesn’t make a “gross error” of its own.

Here’s more background from the Greenville News.
