Spring Native Plant Sale

Come choose from a good selection of native perennial wildflowers, ferns, vines, shrubs — including a fantastic assortment of gorgeous native azaleas!!! — trees, and even a few grasses.
Seven guest vendors will be showcasing their plants and plant products as well: Carnivorous Plants (Jeff Miller);Carolina Wild (Greg and Christina Bruner); Earthen Organics (Kristen Beigay); Natives, By George (Betsy George);Natives Plus Nursery (Richard Davis); Natures Organics (David Senn); and Wildside Garden (Joe Townsend).
Regionally native plants provide a landscape with a “sense of place” as well as one that is wildlife friendly. Any piece of your property that you allow to remain in, or convert back to, native vegetation, can help offset habitat loss caused by development and the spread of invasive plants.
There will be advisors on hand to help you select plants appropriate for your landscape. There will be books about native plants — gardening with them, hiking to them, learning more about them. Dr. Jan Haldeman will be there to show plants that are still commonly sold even though they have become invasive and are escaping into our natural areas — and advise you how to share this knowledge with your friends and neighbors.

(This list does NOT include what our guest vendors will have!)
Not only is our annual Spring Native Plant Sale a unique opportunity in the Upstate for one-stop native plant shopping, it is the Society’s principal fundraiser for the entire year. At the same time that we are making natives available to the community, we are funding the conservation of rare plants such as the Bunched Arrowhead (Sagittaria fasciculata) and Rocky-shoals Spider Lily (Hymenocallis coronaria) and the publication of educational pieces such as Wild Plants on the Rabbit.

Conestee Park is just a three-minute drive south from the Mauldin Road exit from I-85. It is near the old Braves Stadium.
