The City is getting ready to issue a ‘notice to proceed’ to Panagakos Asphalt Paving, Inc., which they have contracted with for the North Main Road Diet project. Weather permitting, they are expected to begin work on March 2. Once they start, they will have three weeks to complete the project. They will be working from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Access to residences along the section of North Main Street that is being restriped (Gallivan Street to Rutherford Road) will be maintained at all times, and while motorists will need to be cautious and can expect some minor delays, there should be minimal disruption to traffic flow.
Additionally, in conjunction with the road diet project, the same contractor will also be resurfacing West Mountainview Avenue and Buist Avenue from North Main Street to Townes Street Extension. This project will be performed on an independent construction schedule, and is expected to begin in mid-March. As with the road diet project, the contractor will have three weeks to complete the resurfacing project once they begin.
