There’s no lack of area events this weekend and into next week to keep you busy. We’ll post Halloween events next week.
Oct 23-24 – Enchanted Tracks at The Pavilion. Ages 10 and under. The event includes trick-or-treating in a magical forest filled with fairy tale creatures (non-scary), a ride on George the Train, a costume contest, bounce houses, and free carnival-style games. Note: There is typically face-painting and/or balloon art available for an additional small fee (cash only). October 23 and 24 from 6-9 p.m. October 25 from 4-8:30 p.m. Costume Contest is at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Admission: Tickets are available presale online or at Greenville County Rec’s administrative office for just $5/child, accompanying adults are free. On the day of the event, tickets will be sold for $7/child.
Oct 24-26 – Friends of the Library Semi Annual Used Book Sale. Merovan Center, 1200 Woodruff Rd, Suite E-2. Friday: 3:00pm-8:00pm (Friends Only). Saturday, 10:00am-5:00pm and Sunday,1:00pm-5:00pm (Open to the Public Sat and Sun). 50% off on Sunday.
Oct. 24 – Middle School Fright Night. 7pm-9:30pm. Children’s Museum. Middle School Halloween party – Costume & Dance contests, DJ, games, prizes & more! Attend with your child or drop them off for a PNO (Parent’s Night Out). $10 advance; $15 at the door.
Oct 24 – Earle St. Baptist Church Fall Festival. 6-8pm.
Oct 25 – Boo on Buist. 2-5 pm. Intersection of Buist Ave. and Robinson. Games (Cake Walk, etc.), Bouncy House, Train Rides, Costume Contests (Parade at 2:30). Apple Bobbing, Decorate your Golf Cart, Live DJ, Bring snacks/drinks to share, Chili Cookoff – Bring a crock to share and enter the contest. Winner gets trophy and bragging rights! (Note: streets will be blocked between noon and 6pm.)
Oct 25 – North Main Yard Sale. 8am – 1pm. Northgate Soda Shop. Please set up your area around the edge of the parking lot and park your vehicle on the street. Please leave the center of the parking lot clear. Bring your own tables, racks or anything you need to sell your items (including change). There is not a charge for your spot. You keep all of the money from your sales. Anything that you do not want to take back home, we will donate to charity.
Oct 25 – Kid’s Comic Con & Trick-or-Treat at The Children’s Museum of the Upstate. Dress up as your favorite comic book character and trick-or-treat at The Children’s Museum of the Upstate! Meet local comic book illustrators and learn how to create your own animation. Multiple activities scheduled throughout the day. All food items offered for trick-or-treating will be located at the food court only, making this event a perfect option for families looking for a trick-or-treat option that makes it easy to avoid candy. Hours: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., trick-or-treating from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. & 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Admission: Event is free with admission to the museum (rates: $9/child, $10/adult, and under 2 and members are free)
Oct 25 – The TD Saturday Market Autumn Harvest will feature a morning filled with special events including:
Children’s Trick or Treating: 8:30 am-12:30 pm. Children can trick-or-treat at all the market vendor booths. A fun-filled way for the entire family to shop at the market!
Cupcake Walks: 9 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. A fun-filled children’s game; the last one standing wins a cupcake!
Children’s Halloween Costume Contest: 11 am. Children can show off their Halloween costume at the market’s Halloween Costume Contest. Children must sign up for the contest at the City of Greenville booth by 10 a.m.

Oct 25 – CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child’s Health). Children’s Museum. 11am & 2pm. Super Hero Snacking – Even Super Heroes get hungry. Learn some ways to keep our bodies healthy and strong with easy to make, delicious, nutritious snacks. Space is limited so please be sure to sign up on the kitchen door when you arrive. Program designed for children ages 6 and up with an adult.
Oct 25– Play with Clay: Clay Monster. 1pm & 3pm. Sunday, Oct 26. 1pm & 3pm. Children’s Museum. Children experiment with the properties of clay as they use their hands & imaginations to create a Halloween-themed figurine using slab & coil techniques. Recommended for ages 6 and older. Limited to 12 participants per session. Free with admission: $9 child; $10 adults (members free).
Oct 26 – Sunday Funday. Community Tap. 2pm until…..Sunday Funday. Dave and the Chuck Truck will be in the Stone’s Point parking lot this Sunday for a special late lunch service. Come enjoy the beautiful weather with a beer and a burger on the Tap deck! See the menu.>>
Oct 27 – Summit Elementary Boosterthon A school Fun Run/Fundraiser. The kids get pledges for each lap they run and then we have a Fun Run. It’s a HUGE fundraiser for the school. This year the money is going to technology and replacing 10 year old computers in the classrooms! Usually pledges are made to a specific runner but if anyone wanted to donate to all the runners they can contact Susan Sullivan atSSullivan@keenansuggs.com
Oct 28 – Halloween Boogaloo | South Carolina Children’s Theatre. Celebrate Halloween and get a trial run in your costume before the big night. Join Miss Traysie for a special Tell Me a Story event! Dress up in your Halloween costume and listen to an animated reading of two spooky tales “We’re Off to Find the Witch” by Mr. Krieb & “Room on the Broom” by Julia Donaldson. Afterwards go trick or treating before you leave the building and collect a treat for Halloween.
Oct. 28– Nov 1: Spider Web – Children’s Museum. 10, 11 and 1pm. Maybe the itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout because he was looking for a home? We will make spider webs by marble painting. It will be a fun and non-scary way to learn about these cool creatures.
Oct. 28 – Nov 22 – Youth Capture the Colorful Cosmos Exhibition. Children’s Museum. In collaboration with the Smithsonian & Harvard. Amazing temporary astrophotography by students from Penny Fischer Middle School and Sterling Middle School. Limited hours, see website for details. Included with daily admission $9 child; $10 adults. Members free.
Oct 29 – Community Tap. Crooked Stave & Jolly Pumpkin Flight Night!! 5:30 – 8pm Pouring flights of both Crooked Stave & Jolly Pumpkin liquid creations! Go all in w/ Crooked Stave, Jolly Pumpkin, or mix and match b/tw these two stellar breweries!! All flights will be priced nice at $8 per flight so come and enjoy! Cheers!!!!
